Meep, already sent all spur of the moment comments to you--but waahhh, his daddy!!!! That part of Sam's story just breaks my heart. Circles--good.

This just keeps getting better. So many complications: dead Vic Tyler, exploding Hyde, a mysterious hospital visitor in 2006. I am most definitely hooked now. Best of all, I have no flippin' clue what is going on, and that's exactly the way I like it. Bravo!

Brilliant chapter. I'm not sure if it's the appropriate reaction but I found Gene pulling over to get Sam to go in the boot so bloody funny even though it's devastating to know that the odd crazy comments that Gene used to be able to let slide now make him angry enough to want to harm Sam (thus the protection mechanism).

The other thing I really love about this is how you manage to show us what Sam is seeing and hearing(like Vic and the radio) but at the same time let the reader know how Gene is perceiving it (i.e. thinking his nutter D.I is really losing it.

Thank you! The one thing I wished I could have portrayed, but which wouldn't play in this Sam-pov chapter was that the reason Gene "gave" Sam the option of getting into the boot himself was b/c he was hoping to avoid having to do it, and save himself from putting more strain on his injuries. But, darn it, Sam was going in there no matter what! I think they were both relieved when Phyllis interrupted. LOL! So, that may be mentioned later, or it might remain something for readers to infer. But I laughed when he pulled the car over, too--he's the extreme version of a dad on a cartrip w/ rowdy kids, isn't he? LOL

Dunno. Sam is FREAKED and Hyde is GONE and Gene is just this side of crazy.

Well done! Can't wait for more! Darn my job, trying to distract me from good fanfic... *grumbles*

(though I think Gene is a bit miffed at me for the dumpster thing...)
