H & H and H & M

Jun 29, 2005 07:53

My friend Steve and I were just having an email conversation about the things we always have to do when we go to NYC. Like H & H Bagels -- only the best bagels on the planet! And after you go to H & H, you go to Zabar's -- the best gourmet food shop in the city. Remember that TV show, Northern Exposure, how what's-his-name was always getting stuff ( Read more... )

Definitely H & M. The closest one to LA is Chicago. I sorta they hope they never open any here in LA because then the clothes I get from there when I go to NYC or Europe will be so played out here.

RECOMMENDATION: And for a pitcher of the best Mojitos in the city go to Ideya. They sometimes have musica muy buena for true salseros.

Actually I heard that they are going to open one in LA. I can't remember where. Like I said, it's Ikea for clothes.

Haven't been there in years, but Carmine's was all about huge platters of fantastic Italian food.

I also like to look at the lions in front of the NY Public Library, even if I don't have time to go in. (Dork.)

Every time I go to New York (other than just being in the airport connecting to a another city), I end up with a fiancee.

I'm never going back.

You can't make me!

OK. I should ask my friend Steve, who's a comic, what he knows about it.

I'm not a new yorker (yet) but I do know NY comedy pretty well. If you want to see stand up, you're better off to go to the following ( ... )

Hmmm...there are so many things I do in the Summer in New York, but I don't have to do them all this week. I'll sort them by neighborhood ( ... )

OMG I *LOVE* La Lanterna di Vitorio. I have such good memories of that place. Let's go.

And yes, rowboating! So Annie Hall. Didn't they do it in Annie Hall? Or was it another movie. I have done it once before and I loved it. I will bike with you but not rollerblade (I suck so bad -- it would be embarassing).

I like Pearl River, too. I would like to go to the Cloisters -- never been. And the botanical gardens.

Grocery store in SoHo = Dean & Deluca?

I can't believe you love La Lanterna. I used to go to that place ALL the time. It's not the same now that you can't smoke, though. Ian and I used to always go late at night and smoke Nat Shermans. He'd get espresso and, if it was too late, I'd have to get Cider or I'd be up all night. I took everyone there--it's magical in the winter when you sit by the fire in the back and watch the snow fall on the garden. They've opened a space next to the downstairs that's newer (well, past 5 years). Sometimes they have live music now. Oh...now you've got me all nostalgic.
