I'd rather be fed to demons than do this...

I've come to the realization that I need to work on a system of pre-writing I can work with. I don't like to outline -- it's never worked for me in the past -- but with the added demands and stress of my day job I'm pretty much going to have to. Well, if outlines don;t work...maybe try writing a brief description of the various scenes you're thinking about on notecards, then mixing up the notecards until they work for you?

You could also take a look at my NPB stuff...even if you dump the outline and a few of the expansions, something in there may help.

*nods* I've tried the notecards before but my brain just doesn't like to wrap around them. Not sure why because it sounds like an easier way for an organic orientated writer to plot. *sigh* I did have a vague method I'd started using that I might rework -- basically coming up with two or three goals for each of my main characters that they are striving for in the beginning, middle, and end. I might try working on that again.

Maybe try my plotting form then. Modify it so it's not so scary, but it might help you sort out your story plots. You can find it here (along with an explanation of how to use it):

I made a tiddlywiki to help me plot and flesh out one book (like wikipedia) but it does require a bit of fiddling about with it.
