That's really great!

At first I was like, 'really? Red, firey demons from below is what she's having nightmares about?' But then it all made sense, that she'd be afraid of the strange and unusual taking Claire away from her, and how Claire was so torn up about not being able to defend Gretchen from her fears.

Good job!

Yay! Thank you! This story didn't "write itself" as easily as the first one (actually, I wrote it very quickly but I almost didn't write it at all), so a "really??" comment wouldn't come as a surprise! I'm relieved that it made sense to you in the end. :)

Haha. Yeah, well, when I don't know what to do with a prompt, I just sort of go with the most basic/literal interpretation I can think of - so, "demon" = evil, scary-looking being... :) I'm glad you liked the fic! :)

That's a great aspect of Claire to hit on - her helplessness. She always mentioned that on the show. (Whined about it on the show, really, but here you're mentioning it and its realistic).

Claire didn't like being pain-free because it robbed her of her humanity but being helpless is a very human feeling. It's visceral. It sucks more, almost, because she's so special. She *should* be able to protect the ones she loves (I see a Noah Bennet connection in there!) or so she thinks.

Anything that takes away your loved one is kind of already a monster.

No one can really fight someone else's fear. They can only comfort and assist. It's not a fun position.

I like that last bit about "if they can get to Grethen like this, maybe I'm not so safe after all."

This fic made me think, it was very unique!
