Don't read his, scalzi is at least rational and polite, G**db**g is an ass most of the time. An illogical one at that. And thanks *G*. I'm preaching the choir here I know. But maybe the people with the strength to argue with them will absorb my criticism and use it.

I read Scalzi's but will definitely avoid the other. ;) I don't need the aggravation at the moment. *snerk*

Definitely all choir members here. *grins* But yeah, maybe someone here has the super dooper extra large bottle of Advil needed to begin attempting dialogue. ;)

Not to mention that anyone who earns a living writing Diagnosis: Murder tie-in novels should really not get on his high horse about artistic integrity.

Oh, was that too bitchy? Sorry.

*snort* Yes the hypocracy, it burns, to be honest though, he's not the only one using the above arguments in conjunction with each other, he just set me off because he's an arrogant ass, at least Scalzi is into polite dialoge. Interesting that Asshole didn't show up in that nearly 600 comment thread huh?

Yeah, I know he's not--but with him, there's that lovely layer of flaming hypocrisy on top of it.

He's tried to do the same argument at his blog before too, and given how he makes a chunk of his money? He's the last person who should be spouting about artistic integrity.

Plus I've seen him spout off about how a writer isn't a real writer unless they get paid for it. He knows dick about art or integrity.

He's an ass, so he gets to me, but I never post in his blog, that said, my rant above applies to many many anti-fanficcers out there.

This guy cracks me up. When I first heard about him, and everyone discussing him, I thought for sure that he was some kind of big shot sci fi author- I don't follow scifi enough to know if he was or wasn't.

After the 15th kerfuffle I actually went and looked him up. Diagnosis Murder tie in novels? Seaquest DSV??? I would say that a good 35% of fanfic is better than that crap- I don't know why anyone takes anything he says seriously.

I know! Does he think his own work doesn't do anything to the original, or does money somehow make it ALL BETTER?

Seriously- and the fact that people care- that they even bother commenting on his blog or engaging him in conversation- confuses me too. He's less than nobody.

His remark about public domain vs. still under copyright underscores for me that art has nothing to do with the debate in any way: it's all about who gets the money.

Oh yes, which will really sell me on the argument that all he cares about is integrity. The Money. Please.
