Whew!

I was a bit worried there, it took me nearly 2/3s of the first Dresden novel to really get into it, I think that's how far I had to work to get past what I already knew from the TV show. There's a lot of exposition in a novel like this, lots of info dumps, which I already knew a lot about, if not entirely in their correct forms. But I could tell it ( Read more... )

I saw that when I was looking for his books, they're definitely on my 'to check out' list.

You do so squee. *eyes you* But yes, I can finally quantify it as 'in to'. I just had a hard time getting past what I knew, so it was a bit slow. And his POV and narrative voice are VERY different from Anne McCaffrey (the last author I'd read) so there was that weird transition too.

But now I don't have to go "I should read a chapter now" but "Hmm, do I have time for another chapter?" It's a nice change.

I blew throught he whole series in something like three weeks, once you get past all the initial exposition it gets awefully compelling.

Aaaaand done with book 1. Yeah, very compelling once they got away from the TV stuff (by necessity the two mediums have to tell stories differently I suppose). Nice stuff. I'm not very glad I have the next few waiting.

Yay!

Also, I should start talking myself out of buying the hardcover now. Now that I'm blowing through books like dollar bills on strippers, I have to stretch my book buying cash for all it's worth. *sigh*

I think I finally understand the point of delicious... de.licious.... de.lic.us. del.icio.us (Who decided on where the periods go anyway??) Bookmarks crossfiled under various tags?
tell me what needs to be done, and I'll see what I can do :)

I think I need a bibliophile icon now :P

That's basically the concept yes.

I need a back and forth about the tags and the best types to use and then later practicing different forms of sending in links.

I think the tags you have now cover the basics, (Genre, author, series, page length) not sure what else you'd need. maybe recomendations. As in "If you like this book, you might also like X", but not sure how that would work.

ITA with the Dresden series. The first book did not really wow me until I was almost done with it, so I honestly didn't continue it. But I've been liking the show - in a low key, James could've done better way - so I gave, like, the 10th in the series a try. OH MY GOD. I couldn't put this book down and it's been a long time since something's gripped me that hard. So yeah. It's totally worth slogging through, and I think I'm buying most of the series for my plane ride :D
