Nitpick: do the people writing this forget that Batman's only super-power is his super-wealth?

I think that's why Rodney likes him. Beyond that it's all brains which is totally a concept Rodney can behind. Of course he leaves out the huge, psyche scarring obbsession, but hey.

*thinks of the Batman TV series and...*

D'you suppose that Burgess Meredith as the Penguin might have some relevence?

If anything, it was ample reason for Rodney not to tell any member of his family he watched the show. *g*

*twitches with you about Lucius*

I was extremely upset when they killed Kolya, I mean, he is the coolest and most dangerous baddie they have. That was horribly anti-climactic for the whole of his arch. :/

And I loved everyone protecting Rodney, and his confused noise was very sweet.

I didn't like the lack of continuity with the personal shield. It is supposed to imprint on whoever initiates it, so this whole switching it around to different people blows prior canon out of the water. *headdesks hard*

I mean okay, if you're gonna kill your lead character's nemesis, the guy that tortured him in the worst way possible (and it wasn't even about anything really related to him) then you do NOT do it like this. In fact, this is the OPPOSITE of how to do it.

Now maybe they didn't really kill him off and so the writers felt free to waste this, but seriously, if your'e going to have John THINK he killed him, this was a total waste and the entire episode took the legs off the emotional oomph it should have had.

And yeah, I had the continuity moment about the sheild as well. All they needed was two lines whereby John and Rodney are confused as well and poof! No more continiuty error and simply a "We haven't studied ancient tech as much as we need to". A perfectly valid idea.

Plus, when Rodney had the thing, half the show revolved around him not being able to eat or drink - when it let them drown Lucius, it was like that ep where the First Evil was holding Spike's head underwater. Hello, vampire....

But I loved Ronon's question about Evel Knievel: WHY?

Actually, I don't think it is a continuity error - he wasn't drowning in the barrel, he was asphixiating, since the water prevented air getting through the shield. Although you have to be a bit hand wavy about why enough air didn't bleed through from around his legs or something - maybe it can't circulate around *inside* the shield, and can only be drawn in through the mouth or nose's part of the shield?

If this really was the final episode with Kolya then it really kind of sucked. I mean, it can't compare at all with the shooting at the end of Storm/Eye, or the reveal that Kolya was alive in Brotherhood. Kind of a crappy way to end the series' best villain, IMO.

It wasn't the worst episode, but it had a weirdly uneven tone. Was it supposed to be funny or serious?

I just want the SG-1 writers to stay the hell away from my show, blech.

My usual source has been busy, but I'm snagging echoes right now. She'll probably post the latest eventually.

Of course, I don't have time to watch them right now...
