Oh, come on. You didn't really for one moment think Kolya was dead, did you? That was way too fast. No way. Nu-uh. As you said, when Kolya really gets killed, it'll be big. And it'll be all John in cold blooded planning.
But, gah, Lucius. Did the producers really think the fans liked the guy? I, like you, muted big chunks of the episode, simply because I can NOT listen to him.
the thing is, if he's dead or not doesn't matter, the lead up to it was kicked in the legs. This is John's first confrontation with him post Common Ground and wall we get is one bitter exchange? I mean yay! John focusing but-- still! And WE know he's not dead, but John still should have gotten something more than that slapstick chneesy western momnent.
I want post ep fic with the theme "God I expected to feel different" etc.
It should have had rage issues clearly leading up to with great huge chunks of anger left and right as his team tries to hold him off because eviscerating him is not the best option at the moment. Someone else noted that he looked surprised that he actually killed Kolya, he's probably been dreaming of it on and off. I mean THINK OF THE POTENTIAL THAT MOMENT HAD. SERIOUSLY.
YES YES YES YES YES. SUCH a let-down. I said pretty much the same thing. Because, come on. KOLYA. This guy was fucking COOL and the tension between him and John was always so cool, so awesome, and then just...blargh? What? Just made no sense. And Lucius, while shallowly amusing, is a scary stupid bastard and argh. This episode couldn't decide what it wanted to be.
Ugh I stopped watching after the mens were talking about their heroes, and instead of making Teyla look, you know, human...they decided not to let her say her hero. Cause girls don't have heroes apparently. Bastards. I can't believe so many people passed over that in their reviews. It kind of set up the whole episode, where the camera kept eyeing that village girl's boobage (I skimmed toward the end a little to see if there was anything good going on, there wasn't) I don't think my eyes could roll up more in my head. This is definitely my least favorite epie of all time. I felt kind of insulted, as a woman, by the whole thing. Do they even know who is watching this show.
Oh, God, this post is exactly what I and a bunch of other people have been typing to each other all freakin' day! We are of one mind. Separated at birth.
Not only have we been discussing post-ep fics, we've been talking about re-writing the whole damn thing. If Lucius weren't around, it would have been a dark, angsty episode, perfect for offing Kolya. He DESERVED a better death! How much better an episode would it have been if the team had been taken early on? And how hysterically enraged could Sheppard have been by the end of the episode, especially if Kolya had decided to pull an "Eye" on them and start torturing Sheppard's team?
Oh, yeah, we wanna re-write totally and your post? Is reading our minds!

I just wanted to totally agree on this:

Okay, leaving now... :)
