I'm wavering on the whole posting thing. It really is... quite vile in terms of emotional blathering. And it's the sort of thing that will start all sorts of nasty stuff I don't want to think about. For I have very little fortitude when it comes down to name calling

I find the whole argument about which couple is more likely a little silly at times, just like the argument over whether or not a character acts a certain way. People see thinks differently, and while I stick by my OTP, say John/Rodney, I'll not tell someone who heartily believes that Carson and Rodney should have hot steaming sex that they are utterly wrong and should be shunned for it or anything. We all see what makes us happy, and what we think is right, and sharing that can lead to some of the worst and stupidest arguments sometimes.

Also, slashers in general don't get a very stable leg to stand on, mostly because the show doesn't portray most slash couples as an option, though I kinda wish they'd stop throwing such boring women at John. . . *shrugs*

Mostly, what I'm saying is that I agree wholeheartedly with you. Especially the "existance and agreement of one side is not an automatic slight to the other." Well said.

What bothers me is intolerance of other people's pov. I read it all too. I don't neccessarily like it all.

Basically it boils down to a "I get you like your thing, that's cool, but get that I like my thing more than your thing and that my default is NOT your thing and that by shoving YOUR thing in my face and telling me explicitely or implicitely that my thing is annoying and stupid is just being obnoxious."

Also, if you really really want, I'll add you to the private private filter and all you have to do is go to my journal main page and look for the most recent locked post.

I think people should understand that you are entitled to your own opinion! And people shouldn't try to make you change your views cos they don't agree.

Really? There are people out there bashing others for their OTP? Weirdness! I may be new to the fanfic thing, but I read it all and just enjoy it for what it is (or label it as the drivel that it is, as the case may be). I love that people write slash/het/gen and and its all just out there. LJ is so unlike real life in that way and it makes me grin. My opinion...stuff them or play with them, but why let them get to you? They sound kinda like the various religious doorknockers that keep arriving on my doorstep. It's fun to slam the door on them, but if you're in the mood it is also occationally fun to rile them up and get a good argument going. Either way, we always end up in the same place, with our differing opinions and they just have to live with it.

(Besides I like being the proverbial fly on the wall of your LJ. Your rants make me smile - whether that's your intention or not - and I'd miss them. *hugs*)
