Oh, this is really, really lovely. I love the idea of Tim going to the opera with Ducky and also borrowing things from Gibbs & Tony. Bowties aren't easy, until you get the knack of them - which of course Ducky has.

I really enjoyed it.

Thank you! I've never tried a bowtie myself, but it sounds hard. And I liked the idea that Ducky especially would get to know the new team members socially (and try and get them some culture).

I haven't either. I've watched J tie them and it certainly looks complicated. I remember once many, many years ago we went to a formalish do where he wore a bowtie. Suddenly a perfect stranger came hurrying up to him & asked if his bowtie was hand tied; when he said it was, the chap asked if he'd go and tie his boss's for him as he couldn't do it, nor could his 'aide' and he'd already asked about a dozen other men, all of whom had already tied ones.

Yes, Ducky would indeed get to know the new teams members socially and culture is always good.

It's certainly a rare skill anymore. Although, I'd think if you got yourself a needs-to-be-tied one, you'd look up how to tie it before you got to the fancy event. My brother is a professor, and he wears one sometimes so he doesn't look like a student, but I don't know if he ties them himself. I'll have to ask...
