Jack skated around the clusters of cheering neighborhood kids, until he came to a stop at the curb. “You missed the game, Carter.”
Sam smiled. “I saw some of it. Champions, huh?”
“Easier to win when you don’t keep score. It’s about the experience not… What’s with that look?”
“You,” she answered, then lowered her voice, “You have literally saved the world, multiple times. But you can still celebrate technically-winning a street hockey game. I just… every time I think I can’t love you any more…”
He grinned. “Champions ought to get a reward, don’t’cha think?”
Sam kissed him. “Absolutely.”
