With my current schedule getting in the way of all sorts of things, I have yet to write what I planned on for this space.

Luckily, friends in other places stumble across interesting things.

For example, here’s a little vintage educational film about dating…

I absolutely love all the old educational videos. I could watch them for hours and hours (and almost did... when I should have been sleeping the other night... oops).

The world truly was a different place back then. At least on the surface. Society as a whole was really good at hiding all the nastiness when it came to most things...

I'm really digging on the downright square and tame stuff. This looks like the nicest approach to dating I've witnessed. I guess I'm old fashioned. :-)

Thing is, in the roughly 3.2 seconds of my life that I dated, I mostly thought I was "supposed" to just be attentive to the person who'd asked me out. Doing things I would have enjoyed seemed like it should have been a secondary priority. To his credit, though, I did go on at least three teenage dates with a guy who, all three times, found activities I enjoyed.

Nothing at all wrong with being old-fashioned.

I think we all know I've got a bit of that going on myself. Mostly because I kind of grew up watching shows filled with characters who were a whole lot like the characters in these educational videos...

As cliched as it may sound, one of the best 'dates' I ever had was Prom night, when I was a senior in high school (I had been dating my boyfriend for about 5 months by that point ( ... )
