In my experience, living in a large building/complex with a high level of resident turnover means a whole lot of accidental disconnects of phone/cable service. You might want to consider that when looking for a new place.
This isn't that, though. This is the return of a problem I thought had been fixed.
I'm betting it's due to rotten wiring or some such. The signal's always been a little on the weak side. A squirrel probably chewed a little on something... or maybe it was a zombie squirrel! ;)
I'm kind of hoping it's the building wiring... that'll give me something else to add to the list of "Reasons why you suck" that I'll be giving the management.
And if computer companies built cars, they'd all go 400 mph and then disintegrate without warning. And you'd have to upgrade your steering wheel every year just to be able to use the newest roads.
:)
Cable companies are in one of the industrial sectors that I think need to be more heavily regulated.
There's really no incentive for them to give better service, because people will still hand over buckets of money for intermittent service and endless waits for the technician. Hell with that.
I had no cable for years and I didn't miss it at all. I had crystal clear local channels from a rooftop antenna which Comcast paid management to have removed. Despite that I still have canceled cable before, but they have made me really sorry anytime I restarted service. They charge you something like $125 to reactivate an account once you leave them.
My current sans-cable stint is at 4 years. I might get cable if it were *any* other company. But not Comcast. Those bastards can rot in hell. I also won't go with Verizon's FIOS TV thing, 'cause that'd take away my good DSL. But I get like 4 different WETA channels, Netflix, and a billion video games and books, so I can thumb my nose at Comcast indefinitely.
Let's play "If I didn't have cable." If you took your $63 a month savings and invested it in something that gets a 15% return on average (not entirely impossible)... in 10 years you would have $17,652.
About ten minutes and (yet another) reset later, the support guy helpfully told me "Your Internet connection isn't working."
Yeah. Thanks for clearing that up, buddy.
LOL, I'm sorry but that cracked me up...that has happened to me SO many times, too! I love it when Tech. support people state the obvious. It's like when I called a computer help-desk person a week ago b/c Excel was giving me issues, and, after looking at the document, the lady said, 'Hm...this doesn't appear to be working.'
