Shoes and Movement

On the way home yesterday, in preparation for both the predicted rain and the upcoming wedding I'm in, I stopped at the DSW near Pentagon City to (finally) get a new pair of every day shoes. I've been putting that off because a) I hate shopping, b) I hate shopping for shoes more and c) spending money just isn't fun when there's not enough coming in ( Read more... )

New kind of shoes, new kind of job... that works in a way.

I hope you're not lowering your financial demands one bit to get this job. If the company wants to hire you because of the dollar figure value, it is not a company that is likely to be generous in future boosts to your compensation. Those sweatshops need to be avoided like the plague, especially since you seem to keep jobs for long periods of time.

No worries there. With the money I can make as a temp, I'm not lowering my regular employment compensation standards one bit. :)

It would just be a shame if they couldn't meet my required pay because they seem to do a lot of very interesting work with a lot of really interesting groups. If nothing else, it would be a great place to make more contacts and kind of show off what I can do--and learn a whole lot of new stuff.

If I weren't in the financial pickle I'm in, I'd be able to take just cool jobs.

But I need cool jobs that pay.

I've noticed Sketchers seem to wear out more quickly than they used to, too...weird.

Huh. I just recently discovered Skechers. Too bad I missed them before. I had to get something comfy but prettier than sneakers and more stylin' than Easy Spirits, because I was taking the girls to the Dance Flurry. That's an all-weekend event with 16 different rooms of music and dancing; you're on your feet all day.

A bystander who overheard what I was looking for recommended a certain pair of Skechers, saying she'd "walked through Europe" with them and they were "the most comfortable shoes in the world." I'll be dipped if she wasn't right - they were the most comfortable Mary Janes in the store, anyway.
