I love Pema!! She rocks. Long ago her book "When Things Fall Apart" practically jumped into my hands during one of my Borders runs. That led me down the path towards almost-Buddhism that I follow to this day. When I get depressed, hers is the first book I pull out. It's scary effective.

The only time when I physically feel "the middle way" is when I meditate, but as soon as I come out of it and back into life, heartaches and lonliness, etc. in whatever form is always there, it's a part of my humanity, and they never just come out of nowhere (unless I view myself as meaningless/the nothingness). But at the same, I don't want to live a life of meditation all the time because I'd get nothing done. hehhe. . .so I combine Taoism into the philosophy. :-)

no, seriously, being single or attached has nothing to do with the ability to touch the human heart or accepting of humanity's flaws, but the ability to not depend on someone else for your happiness is of course, the best achievement. :-)
