We're still staying in Florida with Leit's cousin B., who lives in a brand new development that is still only half built. We are arrived in Florida after two hard days of driving. Totally worth it -- I've been wiggling my bare toes in the warm grass and loving it. Also, Leit's family are very sweet.

On the way down, we spent the night at South of the Border. I rode a jackalope!

By 7:00 am we should be loading the car and by 8:00 we should be hitting the turnpike. Then it's 1200 miles south on 95 until we reach Sarasota and Leit's family on Christmas Eve.

Happy holidays to everybody -- I may be too busy lounging by the beach and noshing on Christmas goodies to get online much before the new year.

I have great sympathy with u2girl1966's dread of the constant holiday music in her workplace. What I find equally monstrous is the prevalence of that fake holiday scent that is supposed to evoke a vat of spiced cider simmering beneath a freshly-cut pine tree. Ugh ( Read more... )

Holidays are now unavoidable. It's less than a week until Thanksgiving. In my neighborhood, this means utter madness, since I live two blocks away from the start of the Macy's Parade.
