Hans Gudegast, a.k.a. Eric Braeden, played a hired gunslinger on an episode of The Virginian that I saw recently, looking quite purty. Screencaps ensued!
Oh dear, no. The ending for him and Marian is quite sad.
Spoilers!!!
He is mortally wounded. Throughout the episode Marian has made it clear that she doesn't want to marry him because he is an unrepentant criminal who does not plan to change; he tells her that if he *could* change, he'd change for her, but he just can't, and so they remain estranged. He does not know that she is carrying his child. (!!!)
While he is dying, he asks her to marry him and she agrees, and the priest marries them. Of course (*sniff*), I remained completely dry-eyed (*sniff*) throughout.

What is it with Old West series and their insistence on sad endings?
