Nice essay, it's good to have it laid out clearly like that. I have issues with both sites, which may be why I've mostly retreated to LJ and tumblr...

Thanks for all your work and research, though, I always enjoy reading what you write, particularly when it comes to gender discussion. :)

Sam here on the "retreated to LJ" front. I find this site a lot more... open, maybe, is the word I'm looking for? Where it's basically a hands-off kind of management and the users determine their own content.

tl;dr I like LJ
