There's nothing wrong with you - you're just unused to meeting someone new out of a safe context. I mean, tell me, when was the last time you just randomly talked to a stranger? Back in college, right? Every time since then you've met new people either at work or with/through friends. Safe. Some guy striking up a convo with you randomly doesn't happen all that often (not just to you, to everyone), and so it's understandable that you didn't feel that confortable with the situation.

That's just my two cents, though. It could be for wildly different reasons why you weren't at ease.

Also, if he asks you for your number, just tell him you have a boyfriend, so thanks but no thanks. Because it's true.
