In case any of you missed it - Becoming Jane trailer. That film with Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy about Jane Austen. I think Anne Hathaway will do a fairly good job although I think someone else could do better - she's too young and unlike Jane Austen to I think really catch the nuances and depth. And  James McAvoy is much much younger than I ( Read more... )

I've just asked my sister whether or not The Illusionist was shown here in England, and apparently it came and went! I certainly didn't see any reviews for it, and I don't think it was even shown in our local cinema. Oh well, DVD it is! The stills I have seen from the film are gorgeous, and Jessica Beil looks beautiful.

The Last King of Scotland looks rather good, so I'll have to watch it in the cinema if I can! James McAvoy is ever so nice :P

That's too bad-it really was marvellous in the theater. Ah well-DVD. And yes, the Last King of Scotland was the other one I wanted to see. Enjoy! :D

I am curious about the film, but have not to much hopes. On the other hand, it is an made-up-story, just like Shakespeare in love is not about, how Romeo and Juliet was REALLY written. So, not autobiographical at all, although the producers seem to want to make this impression, and therefore a nice little romantic movie at best.
Joseph Fiennes looked probably nothing like Shakespeare either. ;)

Okay, since the first thing I saw on your journal was a costume drama I'd never heard of, starring Ioan Gruffudd, which looks fantastic - I'm going to friend you back this instant!

Looks like Bill Paterson of Wives & Daughters is in Amazing Grace too. The MPs are all the Lords of British Acting!

I read Atonement and, though well-written, it was a big downer. But with that cast, I know I'll be seeing it in the theater anyway.

Lovely! :) Although I should probably warn you-I've been posting much less for the past couple of months, my life is madly busy right now and will only resolve itself in another couple of months. But fear not-I shall still be around. Just giving you fair warning. And yes, that's what I though about Atonement-really does look horribly depressing but can't resist the cast. And Bill Paterson, really? Y'know, I just went to check his filmography on IMDB after reading that and looks like he's in Miss Potter as well. :) Hollywood is finally cluing to the excellence of Brit actors.
