Attn: Annelies van den Belt, CEO of SUP, parent company of Livejournal

Ma'am,

As I am unable to find a way to contact you directly, I am writing an open letter to ask if you are aware of how disrespectful and unresponsive some of your Livejournal staff are of your paying customers.

I would like to refer you to this Livejournal post and its ( Read more... )

... this has just been one of the dumbest roll-outs I've seen, topped only by the Delicious reboot that broke *everything* (and made me a Pinboard user).

Besides the comment subject lines going away and the terrible icon choosing menu (seriously, *thumbnails*?), the use of Flash to expand comments makes me *notice* it, and the fact that it's measurably slower than it used to be. Removing the preview function is just *stupid*.

If you do jump ship to DW, I hope you'll let us know your new username.

Absolutely. Hopefully I won't have to. If I do, if possible, it'll be the same as this one.

Ah so this is what it looks like *frown* ... and just where did my beloved Quote button go?

I'd be off to Dreamwidth right now, if only I could take my friends and communities with me ... unfortunately, I already know the RPG group definitely won't oblige, and many others probably won't either. :(

I agree. (ugh, this comment form is *ugly*.) Either that or they've moved to Twitter (am on, just retweeted kshandra's link to this post), Tumblr (will browse but refuse to join, I don't need another timesuck), or possibly FB (to which I am a conscientious objector).

Yeah, losing people is the big problem. Othwerise I'd probably have jumped ship by now too.

The really sad part is that the RPG won't go to Dreamwidth, because they believe it's so much like LJ it will have all the same problems they want to get away from. They want 'a real forum' - so if I say I want to go, they'll go somewhere I'll find worse.

I've been thinking it over, though, and I'll probably prune this account down to only the friends that aren't on Dreamwidth so I have a place to follow them and stop posting to it. Perhaps that will draw some people over.

Crossposting this to LJ/DW/Tumblr. Here's hoping you get ALL THE HITS.

How do you crosspost from LJ to Tumblr?

Manually. ;-) I used the Post Link function. My apologies if you were expecting to find an automagic function.

And oh, look, my captcha's in Arabic. Maybe I should refresh it.

Someone who's on linkedin should be able to reach her.

Only if they're a connection ("friend" equivalent). Otherwise LinkedIn won't let you talk to other people (unless, possibly, it's a paid LI account, but that's not mine.

I have a third-degree connection to her -- one of my friends has a friend who's in her network -- but I don't see it as logical to ask to be in her network in order to berate her over her employees.
