I've ALWAYS been a Baltimore Orioles fan since my first memory of them (1988, 0-21 start)... long enough ago to remember the Brewers as "the division rival I don't hate NEARLY as much as the Blue Jays".

It's the one part of Maryland that always sticks with me - and also, NO ONE hates an Orioles fan; I can go to Fenway Park (say) in an Orioles vs Red Sox game all decked out in orange and black and they'll just go "aww... he's so cute" instead of "I HATE YOU! *attacks*"

Well, obviously you know the Red Sox are my team. But it wasn't always so! I actually grew up a Braves fan. More specifically, a Greg Maddux fan. I was convinced we were going to get married when I was a kid. My entire baseball-loving family are Braves fans, too. When Maddux left the Braves I was devastated -- to the point where I felt like the entire Braves organization betrayed me. At the time I was living in MA and thought, okay, the Red Sox, they need support because they kind of suck. Rooting AL after being immersed in an NL team for so long was really strange. While I followed the team, I learned more about baseball, and it made me love it that much more. AND THEN THEY WON THE WORLD SERIES. So I was fated to be a fan, or that's how I saw it, anyway.

And, obviously I'm biased, but I really want Ellsbury to win the AL MVP. Pretty sure Weaver will win the AL Cy Young, unless for whatever reason his suspension somehow biases voters. If it does, it'll be Verlander for sure.

I grew up loving the Yankees (don't be hatin, they were "what's on TV" when I was growing up watching ball games on Saturdays with my dad). Then Steinbrenner turned the Yanks into the greatest team money could buy, and my love affair with them ended. Since I moved to Wisconsin *cough* many years ago, I've been true-blue Brew Crew all the way. I think both Braunie and Prince are putting up MVP-worthy numbers this year. Hey, isn't their magic number down to about 18 now? :D
