I'm an avid subscriber to crediting. This means that I respect and encourage everyone to do so, and I believe that it's not a hard concept to understand. I can't say that no-one has ever taken or used anything without credit during their life (especially with all the problems on the internet, it's always possible to do so without meaning to), but ( Read more... )

Hence why I refuse to use anyone's icons on LJ except my own. That, and I just like knowing everything on my LJ is mine. xD;;;

The only time I use other people's work is MSN... but well, that's MSN and a dp -_- lol I can't exactly credit even if I wanted to! lol

Crediting will always be a problem no matter what. I can't imagine what it will be like, if for some odd reason, someone took my photo. I think I'll seek them out and kill them. Okay not literally, but I will explode at them and spam them with hate mail if they do not give credit purposely. xD

And "Just imagine someone mimicking everything you do and love (oh yes, we all know at least one person like that)" lmao

I know... it's still something to try and minimize as much as possible rather than let it run rampant though, yes? :)

P.S. I like seeing your photography in your LJ user pics ^o^

Yes, definitely try to keep it under control as much as possible!

Haha too bad I don't have the graphic skills to make it pretty T_T

Aww, it sucks to get your artwork and among other things stolen. I do credit. The only time I don't credit is when 1: I'm lazy or 2: I can't remember where I got it from. But I don't ever claim the person's artwork or whatever. It's both wrong and disrespectful of their hardwork. What I do in those two situation is that I leave it blank and make no claim to it.

Luckily I haven't had it happen in a while now (that I know of at least, but I don't think it's really in the realm of possibility for my skill level in various forms of art. ^^;) but yes it sucks... ><; I know a photographer on DA who's had her works stolen countless times. She's amazingly talented, but the amount of stealing is just insane. And it's not even by other users; people have used her works for CD covers (mass production!) and ads as well without her permission. It's almost become a joke to her from the times it's happened. x_x;

Yea, when I don't know who it's from, I'd add on something about how I don't know who it's by, and that the person should let me know its theirs (if they happen to see it) so that I -can- credit them properly. (e.g. with LJ icons) Otherwise, you see the DA links that I post when I plug in the nice little art pieces by other people. :) (example: here)

That's good, but it's sad that people are using her work without her permission. Everyone is talented to do something one way or the other. You just have to find out what kind of talents do you have, right?

It is! But it's hard to catch them and change things sometimes, which is really sad...

Yeah. Credits always give problems.
LJ provides much space to put credit, but not for other community sites.

Have you ever had your arts stolen?

*nods* It does. Good old LJ.
I have, but it wasn't what instigated this post this time.

Boo to those ppl that steal without crediting!
Don't worry I'll credit ya whenever I use another one of your icons lol, but I'm still rather satisfied with the current Silver one hahaha. =P

So, someone took your art again?

I miss you ._.

Yes boo to people... no, it wasn't anything stolen from me again, thank goodness, but I just keep hearing about so many incidences these days that it just seemed necessary to make a post about it. ^^;
