Are you talking about Daniel (Mobius), or are there other cases you're referring to? I mean, what he says about him is all true, and he's not a 'kid.' He's old enough to live with the consequences of his own irrational, uber-leftist rants.

I disagree strongly.
For one thing, I disagree strongly that these are the consequences. Having controversial opinions is no grounds to be libeled and persecuted. I haven't noticed him doing us any harm beyond blogging against us.
Secondly, he is a kid. And one who's come a long way compared to where he was a few years ago, when he kept just about nothing. He's on the right track, bli ayin hara... but he's somebody who thinks, so he isn't going to swallow a dati position hook-line-and-sinker, but that's fine- do we swallow standard lines? Give him time and compassion. You don't agree with him? I don't agree with him either. But attacking him in public like this- being "malbin panav barabim"- is wrong, and completely against Judaism.
Beyond the personal issues, this is simply not a way to treat people. One doesn't go and persecute people whose positions one doesn't agree with, harming their job prospects. This is not a legitimate form of activism. Plaut should have to pay compensation for defamation of character.

When someone advocates positions you don't support, it makes sense not to want them to be your spokesman. All he did in the article was quote him. He didn't distort any positions of his, as far as I can tell, and it's all public information anyway, published by the man himself. When the thing a person does that I disagree with is making public arguments contrary to Torah, and in this case--I believe--dangerous arguments, it is obligatory to argue against him. Like it or not, he is, by his own design, a public figure, and what he says in public, in the media, is a legitimate subject for debate... and criticism.

I don't know where he came from before, and I'm glad that he's progressing. Maybe one day I wouldn't mind having him in a potentially influential position in the Jewish community. Today is not that day.

I don't agree. He wasn't "just quoting him"- he was quoting specific things out of context to be malbin panav barabim and to damage his job prospects ( ... )

I find Plaut one of the most odious Jbloggers out there, and think the fact that A7 and others on the Jewish right feel the obligation to support him and his- to put it lightly- juvenile style is profoundly sad for all involved.

To read that someone with your politics recognizes that Plaut does the Jewish world, rightwing or not, no real service, is a true relief.

Now if only someone would tell Arutz Sheva...

Plaut is horrible. His latest is a very nasty piece about Norman Finkelstein. Whatever one may think of Norman Finkelstein, what he posted is nastiness for the sake of nastiness and just makes me sick.
I e-mailed Arutz 7 after the Daniel Sieradski thing but recieved to response... indeed, it really bothers me that somehow people who consider themselves "right wing" feel they have to support this obnoxious jerk.
