Alright, I will admit it. The ticking has driven me to distraction. I am no longer capable of being alone in my own home. Spending time with others is not such a bad thing, man is a social creature by nature and myself more than some, but the prospect of sharing rooms with a person with whom I am not on intimate terms is not to my taste. Some of us haven't yearned for a peaceful country residence since before Christ.

And for the record, you can find nearly anything here if you know the right places to look. Including tobacco. But they say that shit will kill you, you know.

I personally prefer the city, but I am also used to being in the minority in the summer months as the crowds flee for the beaches and countryside.

So I have been informed, but so far it has never done me any harm. Clearly I need to spend more time exploring this strange city.

A city is the only proper place to live. I can't stand rural living for long periods anymore, and suburbs leave me feeling angry and dissatisfied, hellish places that they are. Although it's true enough that I go where the crowds go.

My first advice is to explore the restaurants. My second advice is to explore the bedframes.

The countryside can be tolerable in short stints, but there is nothing like the noise and crowd of a city. It is far too easy to get bored in the country.

The restaurants are a necessity; I can hardly be expected to cook for myself. The bedframes will come soon enough.

I don't think I've ever seen buildings that weren't tall like these before.

You haven't? There are no free-standing houses of two or three stories?

Where I came from...the last time I went outside, all the buildings were really tall. I lived in a smaller building, but it wasn't a house, so I'm not sure it counts.

Is this place comforting in it's resemblance to home, then?

I can't imagine living in a world without hot showers and soap.

There are baths and soap, of course, don't think us all total barbarians. Just not in such ready supply.

People always seek to rid themselves of the ticking. No one seems to want to target its source.

You believe there is one?
