Born With a Silver Shovel in Her Hand

I never thought that the first time I appeared in court would be in Taiwan. Mr. Liao, my old landlord, refuses to return my security deposit. He's always coming up with excuses, telling me when he'll be able to give me back how much, but when the time comes, he just recycles his steps and we go through the never-ending dance yet another time. Ha ha, I've never heard of the song before but the lyrics are right on! I love this!

It's startlingly modest of you to admit that, Leo. I'm impressed.

Any time people over here complain about how materialistic America is, I tell them about Taiwan.

Well hey, I'm a changed man. Gave up radiology for pediatrics and traded in my Porsche for a Toyota. I can learn to practice a little bit of modesty.

Just a little bit though :-p

The problem with Taiwan is that being a gold digger is an accepted sin. Sure, it's not the best thing to be, but it's no big deal if you are. Women will actually sit in circles in public and brag about how much gold they've dug up. Sad.

Sure they look nice, but are they real? And nowadays that question isn't limited to the jigglies :-P

Good thing Taiwanese women don't know how to be sexy (not in the American sense anyway), otherwise I just might be a man who's as faithful as his options! Not that I have anyone to be faithful to, so I suppose that shouldn't be reason enough to stop me. Ha ha.

If only an MD and being from the US did the same for me, even in Taiwan, hahah!

I think the closest you can get is dressing provacatively and playing into the whole Taiwanese misconception (or not) that all American girls are horny, slutty, and easy. It kind of attracts the same crowd. I get gold diggers willing to sleep their way to the jackpot, you get pussy-diggers? also looking to sleep their way to another kind of jackpot. Like I said, same crowd of people :-P

You're right. It's just that dressing like a whore is not something I usually do, whereas being a doctor is just something you are so it's not like you go out of your way to become 'digger prey, if that makes sense, eh? Anyway, I'm not trying to sound like I'm complaining, seeing how I'm post-call and still had a male nurse and a male patient hit on me, sheesh!

if you're such a taiwanese hater, why the hell are you even here? it sounds like you're better then everyone else here in taiwan and that everyone is just trying to get a piece of you doctor's degree and get you to apply green card for them. what a load of crap! what if a woman want to date an educated man? is that so wrong? would you want to date a high school dorp-out who's selling beattle nut or a college grad who's working in an international company? you're still thinking taiwan is a third world country, don't you?

I take it that you are either from Taiwan and/or are currently living here. And I also take it that you are a woman.

If you read the entry for what it was and not for what you wanted it to be, you would have seen that I don't think every woman out there is trying to get a piece of me, but rather that I hate the women who are.

Now I'm not saying that all girls who take an interest in me are gold diggers. I realize that the M.D. degree and American citizenship carry some weight, significantly so in Taiwan, and I find nothing wrong in a girl liking these two qualities, but I hate people who like me for these two reasons alone; female or otherwise, young or old.In much the same way that beautiful women are annoyed by guys who only stare at their breasts, I'm put off by people who only like me for being a doctor ( ... )
