Oh, god. She won't remember, but he will. How agonising. :(

But... you asked for thoughts, and I have them ;)

Rose is worried about Martha, and I love that:
"I don't want to take any chances with someone else's life," she insisted. "She's in enough trouble as it is, due to me."That's perfect. That's so Rose. But I don't see much reaction from the Doctor; okay, he's letting himself believe that she'll be fine, that they'll manage to pull her through safely. But not even a flicker of concern in his expression that Martha's stuck where she is and hasn't a clue what's going on ( ... )

Maybe what's causing me these concerns - Martha and Jackie - is that I haven't had Doctor-POV [snip] so I don't get a glimpse into his thoughts.I think that may have a lot to do with it, because there's no Doctor POV in the whole thing, which I'm sure is frustrating when you're trying to figure out what's going on inside his head. It's all Rose (and Martha, when Rose isn't there). Anything you know about the Doctor at this point is because Rose is guessing or because he's said it out loud ( ... )

I think, again, much of this could be handled by inserting some of it in Rose's POV. Why doesn't she mention Jackie? Because she knows the Doctor can't help, if he does get Martha back safely and she gets to stay. So we could see her reason that through in her head.

You know what also occurs to me at this point, though? That the Doctor, when he tells her that if she has to go back she'll remember nothing, could add that it would probably be the best thing to happen, because that way her mum doesn't have to lose her and never know what happened to her. I could just see the Doctor thinking that.

And finally, re. Martha, again via Rose's POV you could show us why the Doctor's not talking about her: because he is worried but she knows him well enough to know he won't say so; because he cares about Martha and maybe doesn't want to let her see; because he's trying to convince himself that it'll be okay and he'll get to keep both of them.

That's all very interesting...I'm going to think about this and ruminate on some possible edits...

Oh, poor Doctor. To lose her again, remembering everything whereas Rose won't even have that... That hurts. :( A lot.

Like Wendy, I adore that Rose is worried about Martha and that she doesn't want Martha to suffer because of her. Lovely. I just have this feeling that the only possible solution here is to have them swap places...and that just adds even more hurt on the poor Doctor's shoulders. *hugs them both*

I did feel bad, torturing poor Ten with the idea that he'd be the only person to remember all this. He really never seems to get a break, does he?

And as always, I have to refrain from commenting on the ending, though everything you've said is very interesting. ;)

Now I just want to give the Doctor a big cuddle. Interesting two chapters, they're so sweet together, I'm really hoping it works out well in the end!

Looking forward to more!

If only we *could* give the Doctor a cuddle, but on second thought, I think there would be a pretty long line for that.

I hope you enjoy the end of the story when I post it tomorrow.

You!!!!! Oh.. if this ends badly... I would be absolutely crushed and it would be your fault and I would think you brilliant for it. I started out such a happy thought especially with this quote ( ... )

Thank you for your comments. (I like the mental image from that quote you picked out, too! Oh, Ten. How you've won me over.)

I did watch Buffy, but I only watched about the first three or four episodes of Angel before I decided that yes, I did dislike Angel. The Buffy/Angel relationship was the only thing I didn't like about Buffy, though I acknowledge now that the show did go a bit downhill after he left Sunnydale.

I must have missed the Angel episode you're referencing, but poor Angel! And I suppose if I have to reuse a plot point from somewhere, it might as well be from something Joss wrote, as I think he is delightful. :)

I'll have to find that Angel episode! It sounds interesting and I think I could take 42 minutes of David Boreanaz now that I'm not so sick of the Angel/Buffy scenes of sad violins playing in the background.

to save you the trouble thats the link. i was a b/angel fan so i never minded and i seriously think they wrote this episode specifically to pacify the shippers. it was something completely ripped out of a fanfic. lol
