But... you asked for thoughts, and I have them ;)
Rose is worried about Martha, and I love that:
"I don't want to take any chances with someone else's life," she insisted. "She's in enough trouble as it is, due to me."That's perfect. That's so Rose. But I don't see much reaction from the Doctor; okay, he's letting himself believe that she'll be fine, that they'll manage to pull her through safely. But not even a flicker of concern in his expression that Martha's stuck where she is and hasn't a clue what's going on ( ... )

You know what also occurs to me at this point, though? That the Doctor, when he tells her that if she has to go back she'll remember nothing, could add that it would probably be the best thing to happen, because that way her mum doesn't have to lose her and never know what happened to her. I could just see the Doctor thinking that.
And finally, re. Martha, again via Rose's POV you could show us why the Doctor's not talking about her: because he is worried but she knows him well enough to know he won't say so; because he cares about Martha and maybe doesn't want to let her see; because he's trying to convince himself that it'll be okay and he'll get to keep both of them.

Like Wendy, I adore that Rose is worried about Martha and that she doesn't want Martha to suffer because of her. Lovely. I just have this feeling that the only possible solution here is to have them swap places...and that just adds even more hurt on the poor Doctor's shoulders. *hugs them both*

And as always, I have to refrain from commenting on the ending, though everything you've said is very interesting. ;)

I did watch Buffy, but I only watched about the first three or four episodes of Angel before I decided that yes, I did dislike Angel. The Buffy/Angel relationship was the only thing I didn't like about Buffy, though I acknowledge now that the show did go a bit downhill after he left Sunnydale.
I must have missed the Angel episode you're referencing, but poor Angel! And I suppose if I have to reuse a plot point from somewhere, it might as well be from something Joss wrote, as I think he is delightful. :)
I'll have to find that Angel episode! It sounds interesting and I think I could take 42 minutes of David Boreanaz now that I'm not so sick of the Angel/Buffy scenes of sad violins playing in the background.

to save you the trouble thats the link. i was a b/angel fan so i never minded and i seriously think they wrote this episode specifically to pacify the shippers. it was something completely ripped out of a fanfic. lol
