He thinks about painting flames on the sides of the sifter he's sure he'll buy for Ianto.

This is my favourite line in the whole thing -- it so perfectly encapsulates Jack's cluelessness about the everyday along with his caring side. And it ties in pefectly with Jack's anxiety later in the story, where he's so nervous that he's doing everything wrong.

The whole thing is simply gorgeous.

But yeah, Jack is sorts clueless about this relationship stuff, except when he's not, which is why I like writing them this way.

dotfic and I had this whole motif in our DC Animated stories: if it had people eating pancakes together, everything was going to turn out okay. And then the comics gave us Bruce making pancakes for Alfred, Dick and Tim. So.

OMG I THINK TE ONCE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. Like how the Batfamily int the animated aeries was much more functional BECAUSE THEY ATE PANCAKES IN THE MORNING AFTER THEY FOUGHT CRIME.

Well, I think it was easier to write the tension knowing that everything works out in the end. It's like wasted anxiety!
