Akatsukizukuyo -DAY BREAKERS-

I thought the lyrics in this were a little unusual for GACKT, there are some old favorites like "dakishimete", but in particular the word "shikabane" (corpse) seems a little more graphic than he'd usually be in a ballad. (Usually he says something about "your body being swept away by waves of light" or "dissolving into sakura petals" or something ( Read more... )

Thanks for the translation!

I think the reason why this is more graphic is because this song represents summer, and hence the lyrics are stronger.

Thank you so much for all your effort in this translation *^* I usually don't look for lyric translations because I'm never sure if the lyric or the translation are right, but all your translation have such a feelings that I can relate it with the feelings of the songs. Thank you so much for sharing c:

Wow, I really like this. "Rain-drenched stars," "stars that sway in the wind," and "leaning on a corpse trembling at daybreak" create such beautiful imagery. You're right-- "corpse" is a pretty strong word coming from GACKT. Not "looking for breath in your frozen body" or "eternal sleeping body" or something, but "corpse." It creates an impact.

Also, woah, he stained her red? From the other songs, I thought she just passed away, but this puts a new light on things. Well, but he could be philosophical and it could be something like tainting her. As in, maybe he didn't directly kill her, but he "stained her" and her death was therefore his fault so he hopes to wash his hands clean... Aaaah, I want to go back and compare the four seasons' lyrics side-by-side, now!

Thank you for translating this so soon, Amaia!

I don't want to spoil MOON SAGA II (unless you're okay with that), but I think this song is about a specific character from that, who happens to be male.

I think perhaps all the four season songs might be about different people. Kage is in the Sakura Chiru video quite prominently, and the girl in the Setsugekka video looks rather like Hiyori... (Hakuro is hard to place though...)

A lot of GACKT's songs that are tie-ins for games and movies pull double duty. In this case, the song was used as a tie in for Sengoku Basara and connected to the character of Nobunaga, but most of GACKT's songs (except for MARS, R+R and a few other exceptions like P.S. I LOVE YOU and No Ni Saku Hana No You Ni) are originally written as part of the MOON SAGA story, about those characters.

He's said before that he never writes the songs based on the game characters, just that he finds a song out of the one's he's working on that will fit the story of the game.

Thank you. Your notes and comments are always enlightening. ^^

I really can´t tell whether he is weaving some story song by song, or should I judge these season songs individually.

I personally think they're all from Yoshitsune's point of view but about different characters. I've been posting a bit of speculation on Tumblr http://radiantbutterfly.tumblr.com/post/99102252952/slight-rethink-on-that-post-last-night
