So I don't think I actually told you guys, but I applied to JET last semester. I've been wanting to go back to Japan more or less since I got back, and by and large I really like the tutoring I've been doing this year, so it seemed ideal. I got through the first round of applications--they actually sent out the list of people who'd made it through

2. I wanted to finish that but got sidetracked; Arashi + drinking are two of my favourite things, and I take a foodie's approach to drinking so I love how they feature the mixological side of bartending
3. I had an idea for Bartender drinking game: drink whatever Aiba is making onscreen. Unfortunately, you need a full bar for this XD

2. Haha, does it get better? Because I watched the first episode mostly on the merits of 1) Aiba; 2) Aiba's HANDS, sfglskfjg; 3) Kanjiya Shihori is actually adorable, although I liked her better in Buzzer Beat; 4) ... I am totally weak to shows that look like they know, professionally, what they are talking about. So, uh... 3 parts pretty, 1 part living vicariously through Arashi member. And not that these are not valid reasons to watch something! But every time they started talking about "Chosen Bartender" and "Glass of God" I lol'd really hard.
3. Lol, I was like "That'd get dangerous!" and then I realized you only said what Aiba was making... because all those discarded drinks in the first episode, man. I suppose they couldn't realistically get more than three or four drinks into one forty-five minute episode, could they? If we're going to have Appreciation of Aiba's Godly Technique Time every time? I guess you wouldn't die.

2. I only watched a little over halfway the first episode...
3. ...which is why I said only what Aiba was making, because of the little that I did watch, I got through the part with the discarded drinks and was like, no. XD I'm thinking it'll be like Nodame, where they have plenty of classical music in the background but only really focus on one or two pieces (plotwise) per episode; in this vein, Aiba will only make a couple of drinks per episode and the plot will revolve around that... Like I said, I take a foodie approach to drinking, and this would be a fun (yet classy) drinking game in that you would enjoy a lovely drink as Aiba rhapsodises over what makes it special or whatev lol

I'll probably be hitting you up for tips/advice in like a year when I apply lol

I'm not sure how much advice I can actually give, lol... I suspect the teaching/tutoring experience helped, but I think the most important thing--probably in any job application--is just to show them you're passionate about it. B-but, uh... その質問を楽しみに待っている。頑張ってね!^^
