Wherein I feel more justified doing nothing with my break because I (probably) have a job!
So I don't think I actually told you guys, but I applied to JET last semester. I've been wanting to go back to Japan more or less since I got back, and by and large I really like the tutoring I've been doing this year, so it seemed ideal. I got through the first round of applications--they actually sent out the list of people who'd made it through to the interview stage on my birthday, which (combined with the snowday) was pretty much the best birthday present ever; I interviewed over February break, and it seemed to go pretty well, but I didn't want to tell everyone in case it didn't happen. But I got out of my last class yesterday just about in time to get the email announcing I'd passed the interview stage, which means I now essentially have a job, so I feel okay telling you. :D I'm still waiting to be assigned to a contracting school, so I won't know where exactly I'm going until May, but we're supposed to get the official acceptance paperwork etc. next week, and I need to start looking into background checks and such ASAP.
TL;DR, barring any last-minute disasters I'll be an ALT next fall! Y'all are really just lucky there is no way for me to convey the totally undignified dance of celebration I did yesterday through LJ. (I seem to have compensated with a truly horrifying number of typos in the first draft of this post. Think that's now resolved, but no promises.)
Also, because I am per usual the latest person on the planet, I am finally starting Bartender! I have to say guys, I'm only like three minutes in, but my first few impressions were 1) gorgeous lead; 2) spunky female accomplice; 3) RIDICULOUS ALCOHOL-BASED PROPHECY, and that is so far three for three with Kami no Shizuku. ^^;; I love Aiba and I love Kanjiya Shihori and I have heard nothing but good things about this drama, so I'm sure it'll be fine, I'm just saying.
P.S. Likely in direct correlation with amount of time spent hiding from my semantics p-sets, have acquired SEVERAL new fandoms in the last month or so. Any Passpo/RTA/D-NA fans on my f-list? No? ... no?
