Influence?

Is it possible to be influenced by someone you've never met and really don't even know that much about?  There could be a really simple answer to this question if you think I'm talking about some historical figure.  But what if it's someone real, someone you feel like you could have known, someone other people you know have known ( Read more... )

Who do you mean? I think it's possible. For example, had I not known Choge, but knew my mom's other students and Ed and everyone, I feel like his influence would still be a part of me. But that's totally hypothetical. I just think that the people I know who loved him speak so highly of him and talk about the kind of person he was and what he did to, you know, save the world and all, that he would have some influence on me. Clarify, and I'll be more articulate.

I don't know, of couse, who you're talking about, but I definitely think it's possible! For example people I know of who don't necessarily know me if I admire the work they're doing, or for example my piano teacher's piano teacher, etc... or people who've influenced people around me directly I might change based on what they've done. I think it seems more likely in an actions (e.g. how to play the piano...) sort of sense vs. personality sort of sense if you don't actually know them? Interesting question :) and this isn't really an answer of course I can't answer it but just some thoughts.
