LJI Home-Game Entry - Week 26 - Baby Pondering

May 11, 2010 18:28

This is one of my home-game entries this week for therealljidol. I am not competing this season but invite you to read the many fine submissions and the home-game entries. There are two topics this week, an Open Topic and "Face to Face." This is my take on "Face to Face."

Soon, we'll see what he really looks like. )

There is just nothing like that first look at your baby's face. It was different with all four of mine and they were all very different babies as well (my son was so placid for example whereas my oldest daughter screamed for the first hour of her life because she came out hungry). And even then, there's still more to learn about them because every time you think you've got it sussed, everything changes.

You're in for a wonderful journey - enjoy these last few weeks before parenthood kicks in.

I meant to say to you sooner, my photographer friend who took my bump pictures reckons that it's best to do them at 8 months, so now's the time to book in and do them when you're at your most bountiful :o)

Thanks for the well wishes. Unless I do my own bump pictures, though, I don't think I'll have a chance to get something like that done. Most of my best photographer friends live too far away!

Maybe I'll use a timer and try it myself.

I saw a woman developing some pregnancy photos she'd taken of herself and they were absolutely stunning. Black and white and beautifully posed so it's totally doable. And I have some cute ones of my then two year old looking at my bump when I was pregnant with no.4 that I took by standing in front of a mirror and being cunning with angles.

I totally think you should. If you're not planning on having any more babies, then it's good to have an attractive record of a shape you will never be again. And if you can't do photos, maybe do one of those belly moulds?

Hmm. Good points. I think that after we finish getting the house in order, I might try a self-portrait or tap a friend's talent.

You were one pretty baby. I imagine your son will be beautiful and handsom and wonderful rolled into one kiddo. It won't be long now before you get to see what he looks like.

Thanks! I always thought I was a little funny-looking, but my parents tell me I was cute. Of course, my son will be cute to me, regardless!

And probably the cat that's been purring against my belly. :)

That is so cool! It's a little like looking at a sculpture that's not finished.

I love that comparison, especially since the best shot we have of his face shows some of the amniotic sac (I believe) obscuring the top of his head. Like Michelangelo's unfinished statues.
