the philosphy of iconage

I was never once able to field a full Space Marine army. Ever. I owned one certainly, I was just never able to play an actual game with the whole thing. The reason for that is very simple. I never finished painting the damn thing. The reason for that is simple too. I couldn't for the life of me stop myself from devoting as much time to each regular ( Read more... )

I just realized I hadn't yet commented, though the other day I'd left the page open to come back to leave a comment. Slack.

Anyway....

First of all, I knew a guy a couple of years back who painted figurines/models for Dungeons and Dragons. I was always awed by them because I knew how much work went into the painting of them. When we were younger, my older brother would paint his plastic army men. They always looked so realistic and amazing. I tried it once, but apparently I didn't have all too much of an artistic sense of style back then lol Do you have any pictures of your models? I'd be interested in seeing them if you did :)

I can tell from the work you've put into your icons (and what you wrote in this post) that you've put a lot into these, and they're simply stunning!

The artistic styles you're undertaking and the processes you're using with them is unique and creative, and makes your icons a joy to view. I've especially enjoyed seeing your icons submitted to mitchellstills as you use crops and techniques Id never otherwise ( ... )

=] I get way too fancy with them sometimes. I see some of the simpler icons produced by folks and I think they're great, but invariably I end up lifting parts into multiple layers and bathing them with different effects. I can't help it. The process makes me smile as much as the finished article.

I don't have any pictures of them. I've never been that good at photography. =P The most important thing about painting models is becoming good at producing smoothness. Which is why I gave up on GW's white paint long long ago. =P Gloopy mess no matter how much you thin it down.
