It's cold. Temps have gone from the 80's to the 60's and down into the 40s at night. Leaves turned about a week after the hurricane. Pumpkins are going to be scarce this year

I think a reasonable definition of poor is people whose hours-per-dollar are very high, meaning they don't have time -- time to exercise, cook healthy food, learn what's healthy and how to make it, anything. But people who aren't poor don't understand that, and probably never will. People are lousy at empathy.
And I still read people who claim and appear to believe that healthy food is cheap. Calories per dollar, McDonald's is ten times cheaper than broccoli, and if what you're trying to do is simultaneously pay the rent and keep your kids from going hungry, and that takes 100% of your income, you're going to choose McDonald's. There isn't anything you can buy at a supermarket that even approaches the cal/$ of fast food.
