 Things that are good

#EGYPT getting rid of their dictator. I am so so impressed and humbled. 18 days of peaceful protests, guys. It's beautiful. I really hope they can build something better now.

THE LATEST EPISODE OF GLEE IS THE BEST ONE EVER. EVER. I loved so so much of it. So much character development. Lauren is epic, I am totally justified in ( Read more... )

YAY EGYPT. :)

ALSO YAY LAUREN. I mean gosh, how is she so awesome? I love that she is not a commonly pretty girl but totally knows what she is worth and that she is definitely worth more than Puck's half-ass attempts. I want Puck to desperately fall in love with her like mad. LIKE MAD.

I LOVE LAUREN. I definitely liked her a lot from her couple of brief lines before this ep ("Not me. I'm going to bring the pain.") but I am so so glad that they are actually giving her some attention, and a proper personality and attitude that follows through on her epicness. And, aside from my personal fangirling of her character, isn't it just so. damn. refreshing to see a different kind of female represented? And I don't just mean physically, but a girl that is actually has it together and is happy and confident and could top any man instead of simpering over them. Bow down bitches.

I was so sad for Mini! The poor girl. And Nick's a bit of a douche. I'm really interested to see Liv's episode, she's a bit of a mystery!

Music rec! I have been listening to She & Him non-stop for about a week. They're retro and boppy and pretty and really fun :)

I really appreciate how subtle they were with Mini. Opening with her "breakfast" (that can't possibly count as a meal) had me almost whimpering in pity right from the beginning. And the way she has so much pink and frilly and fluffy things, those little lights around her room - normally I'd expect that to annoy me, but it just brought home to me a sense of here is an emotionally young girl desperately trying to project a maturity and confidence she utterly lacks. All her photos were of her and Nick, and I couldn't help but think, if she didn't have him, and those photos, what would she have? I mean, clearly she is desperately clinging to him, and to the relationship she has basically made up between them if they've actually only been seeing each other for, what, a month? Which ok, is weird, but again I'm staggered by the insecurity. I was practically begging her to just say "I'm not ready for sex" or straight up "I don't want to sleep with you". God. So many emotions. No wonder she is so desperate for control over others if she feels ( ... )

I agree, I was glad to see the layers of Mini's character and how complex her life was. The breakfast made me so so sad, and I was actually genuinely shocked to find out that she'd only been going out with Nick for a month. It seems hardly enough time to have all those photos and everything. And the way she kept pushing everyone away, convinced that Nick was the only person who really cared, when the people she was pushing away were her best friends. The bit that really hit me was when she went home and started chucking on the fake tan and doing her hair, because it felt so self destructive ( ... )
