I was lazy today

May 02, 2009 21:00

And it was good. About normal for the first day of a vacation break. It takes a while for the truth to sink in, and then to realize that you have a whole lot of things you want to accomplish before going back to work. But today I did little that was important. I read a book. I fed the animals and petted the horses a bit, but didn't groom them or ( Read more... )

"I was lazy today. And it was good."
Reminds me of the book of Genesis. Well, there's my inspiration to avoid church or any form of socially acceptable sacrilege.

Being socially acceptable will certainly rule out being lazy. ;p

Whinnyhi, Rider.

This is why you are perfect. You set an example for us all. Lay Z Day Saturdays are what life is for and about. Go take a nap in a hammock (a net for catching lazy people). Pull out a star chart and plan an attack on the galaxy. Or sip an big ice tea from a frosty glass. The possibilities are endless. I know, did the same thing yesterday (actually I got ya beat did the dishes and laundry and mowed and payed house payment and deposited another two hundred in my savings which is $3200 now not bad in these times and a hedge against getting laid off at work. Yes, twenty seven got laid off and the rest of us took pay cuts not happy not happy at all).

I also hugged horse and layed on the grass while the world's cutest ponys grazed on me. Life is good.

Still too wet and muddy for lying in the grass here. Though I think Tess can finally get back out in her pasture as of today. If she gets over into the wet corner, it's all right. She needs to get her feet wet more often.

Yeah, we have to be glad we have jobs at all right now. I actually got a tiny raise as of Friday, but it doesn't offset the last two years where the increase was less than the inflation rate. Also got statements in the mail from two pension plans of prior employers. Both lost half their assets in last year's market collapse. One is likely to be bankrupt before I ever collect anything. Thank Epona the Bushites didn't get away with their desire to kill Social Security and turn it all into stock market investments.

Don't you love those occasional lazy days?

It gets you in the mind of when you...what? I have to go back
to work?

*laughs*

Okay, so I did, but you enjoy.

The swallows and the hummingbirds have arrived since I wrote that. Yesterday I saw the barn swallows checking out the old nests in the horsebarn. There are two, built like a duplex, one on each side of a roof rafter. Generally they use one of these every year, never both at once.

The female (I assume it was the female) had to try sitting in each of the two nests several times before they flew back out. This morning I saw one fly in the window before the doors had been opened, so I'm sure they will take up residence again.

Pounce on me if you dare. Leave the birds alone though, or you'll find yourself shaved into a Mohawk clip and tied up on a leash.
