Man, I suck at that part of the world. Took some trial and error, especially with the 'Stans.

My world geography class in college required us to learn the location of every country. We had four tests - 50 countries per test - and both Julie and I got every question correct.

Unfortunately, that was almost 15 years ago, so my memory has faded. I had a little trouble with sub-saharan Africa, and the 'Stans as well.

The last time I did anything like that was high school... we don't really emphasize memorizing countries or anything like that in geography here.
