Title: Being Gary's Mom Author: ember_reads Spoilers: none Summary: Sandra Bell's reaction to her son's diagnosis of Autism Rating/Warnings: G, Crossposted to gen_drabble for the prompt: Mother.
Aww, nice drabble. Glad this fandom hasn't been forgotten. I wonder when Gary was actually diagnosed? Was he a child? A teenager? Interesting to think about.
I agree with you also. There've been snippets of background information on the characters, plus a big reveal for Rosen with his daughter and all, but I'd LOVE some more history! We can only hope. And, well... if not? That's what fanfic is for. :P
But anyway, back to the fic. I like it very much. A nice little bit of insight, and very well written! Sandra seems kind of overprotective on the show, but with all signs pointing to her being a single mother... plus with Gary's autism... it must have been hard for her, and I imagine she IS very strong (though not without her flaws as well). I hadn't thought of it much before now, but suddenly I'd love to see a fic about Gary's childhood. Do you take requests? :P
Heh. Really, though. For such a short piece, this is very thought-provoking. Well done. :]
