My kids are getting old, I already knew I was

Aug 19, 2010 10:20

I am not going to address the fact that I haven't posted in about 6 months or whatever. Really no reason except, I didn't feel like it.  Anyway, my children have all started school!!  Alex is in freakin high school, Abby in freakin Jr High and Camille started preschool this week. I think Camille is the only one happy and content with her plight. ( Read more... )

Oh man! What gorgeous kids. I can't even get over how handsome and grown-up Alex looks. And Abby! She's turning into a beautiful young woman. And oh, Camille. LOOK AT HER! Man, Chrissy. She's just...so much personality to go with that adorable little face. Also, that last pic of you looks great! You're definitely not showing your age. <33333 Thanks for sharing the piccies!

LOLOL that is her preschool teacher. But I'll take the compliment on her behalf. :0)

Hahaha. Wait, no way? I thought it looked like you! I couldn't click to make it bigger though. And in my defense, Camille's hair is obscuring half of her face.

Well, then SHE doesn't look as old as you. ;-) Or something.

Yeah for back to school! I don't recall ever crying when sending my kids off to school after summer.... they were happy to be going, and I was happy to have them gone during the day LOL :)

Love the pics. It is hard to watch them grow up....

Have you read the Hunger Games series? You probably have, but if not - highly recommended. I think you'd love them.

I also really enjoyed the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. Kind of dark, but riveting. Interesting characters. Hardest part was adjusting to all the Swedish words (names of places, people, etc.) Is kind of distracting when you don't have a clue how to pronounce what's written. I ended up sort of making up words myself as substitutes and then it got easier.

I'm also in the middle of Cutting For Stone - I'm liking it a lot, but it's not a 'burn through it' kind of book (unlike Hunger Games).

Thanks for the recs, I've read them both. I am excited the third Hunger Games books comes out soon, this month I think?

I'll check out Cutting for Stone.

Her Hello Kitty backpack is basically a stuffed animal with straps so we had to go buy a more utilitarian one (also Hello Kitty, natch) that actual could hold papers. I think I'll hang the other one in her room. :)

We were *supposed* to read Cutting For Stone for our book club this month... no one read it. LOL.. You'll have to tell me how you like it when you're finished :)

Where the heck does the time go!? How is Camille that old already?

Lonnie and I were talking the other day about how we can't believe how old we are. I know to you we don't seem old, but it still boggles our minds that I'm going to be TWENTY-SEVEN in nine days. How did this happen???

Great pics, Chris. It's always so nice to see a post from you, especially when there are pictures of your beautiful family. I can't believe that is really Alex and Abby in those pics. They are so grown-up! And OMG Camille is just about the cutest thing ever with her pink shoes and her Hello Kitty outfit. I can't stand it. *smooshes her*

Enjoy back to school - the most wonderful time of the year, right!? lol I miss you! *HUG*

I KNOW. I cannot believe how old my kids are getting, Alex going to HS was a hard pill to swallow.

Yes, you kids are mere youngsters to me, but I understand feeling that way in my twenties, because when you hit 30 you're supposed to have life all figured out right? HA. No worries, hon.

Camille IS too much, she is so cute some times I literally have to lay down, I can't handle it. I am pleased that she likes Hello Kitty so much.

I miss you too!

Ohhh... so bitter sweet. Pre-school? Jr. High?? High school!??!? Wow. Tough year for you. I'm having a hard time with Kennedy starting first grade. I'm excited that it's all day, but the fact that it's first grade makes me sad... they grow up WAY too fast. :(

I love Camille's backpack.

Have you read all of The Giver books? After The Giver, Lois Lowry wrote "Gathering Blue" and "The Messenger". You should read them if you haven't :)

LOVED The Giver. Haven't read the other two.

I wish Kennedy and Camille could meet somehow--wouldn't that be something? It is SO hard to see them leave and go to school knowing you aren't their primary influence anymore. :*(

I love all these pictures, I like how you took pictures of them getting ready and then leaving...Sween's pigtails and backpack melted me...the only time I cried was when John and I put Griffin on the bus for Kindergarten, we were both sobbing and when Erica started college, even tho she was only 30 minutes away :)

I HIGHLY recommend Mary Karr's books. The first one is "Liar's Club," "Cherry" and then "Lit" which just came out last year. She is an unforgettable writer and will make you cry and laugh.

I'm surprised Griff didn't get off the bus and walk back home. :) Love that boy.

I will put Mary Karr's books on my lengthy list!
