He foggily experienced a bizarre set of moments as he drifted in and out of consciousness. One of them involved Phyllis’s face inches from his, so close he yelled. It asked him what happened? Could he hear her? Should she call an ambulance? And he found he couldn’t do much more than groan about how loud it spoke and close his eyes

Well, yet again our paths cross in fandom, right? :) Heh.
Yes, actually, I would typically spell it "fairies" in this fandom but "faerie" strikes me as more mythical and related to the idea of "changeling" so I spelled it that way instead. :D Yay! In normal, every day stuff, I've always spelled it faeries. :) I like it that way. *shall not correct you*
And the next part will be up on Saturday. :) So glad to see you again!

And *much blushing* thank you, thank you, thank you for the compliments. It's quite possibly one of the nicest reviews I've ever gotten from anyone. I was actually concerned about that last bit-- it felt less fluid than I would've liked but to hear that it WORKED (even in present tense, silly present tense) makes my day. *bows to* Thank you, thank you, thank you. *blush blush blush*
Feel free to babble anytime. I rather liked your babbling! In fact, it was very well organized in comparison to my babbling (which consists of a lot of squealing and whining and hand clapping)and incredibly complimentary.
Babbling now actually. Really, thank you. *blush*

Poor Sam, getting hurt twice in a day - but I am sadistic enough to love that! Sam getting shot, and Gene’s reaction to it was heartbreaking - I like how you’ve done it so that Gene only shows that he truly cares for Sam when Sam’s at death’s door. Oh, Gene.
Please don’t let Sam die! I already feel like crying everytime I listen to ferntree’s audio fic!

:( Yeah, Sam does get the brunt of the beatings it seems. And I can't see Gene breaking down unless he really thinks Sam's dying. We all know that ambulances back then weren't reliable or fast, AND listening to the dialog, I had to have a reason for Gene really, REALLY, freaking out.
Deadly chest wound is good!
:D I don't write death fics. As an assurance. :) And more will be up on Saturday. :)
