Restitution

Jan 23, 2008 09:11

I rarely make New Year's Resolutions (restitutions, as K says), however I have some very important goals to meet between now and June.  The main one is "Reduce the contents of the house by half".  Yes, half.  M has a houseful of stuff he's bringing up, and I have 1.5 housefulls of stuff presently in the house... so if he reduces some and I reduce ( Read more... )

Baa baa black sheep
Three bags full.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. Love the new layout, btw.

I probably ought to look into that book. Until it told me to start getting rid of books. THEN I'd have a problem.

I DO use the shopping bags for kitty litter, tho. And also to take to the bag-your-own Aldi store.

I do , too. but then I have a stash of 5 bags near the litter box for that. These are just hanging around "just in case" :)

My whole life is "just in case". By the way, congrats on setting a date! Hope your mom gets over herself.

We used to have mountains of plastic bags, then we got about 10 bags for life, which are stronger ones which you reuse and then they replace them when they're worn out. Since then we haven't actually got that many bags and we've been using the stash that we did have to the point before christmas we weren't sure we had enough bags to put presents in to take away with us.

I also always make sure I've got a canvas bag in my handbag so that I dont need bags while I'm out.

It's a good way to help the environment too!

I have a neat little fabric tube organizer for plastic bags that my mom made for me. Like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/Apples-Sack-Plastic-Bag-Holders-Dispensers-Organizer_W0QQitemZ190077967372QQcmdZViewItem

When it gets full of plastic bags, the rest get gathered up and on the next grocery run, they get recycled. I also am trying harder to bring my fabric bags to the store.

When is he moving in? Perhaps you could do a springtime garage sale and make some money from things you need to get rid of?

I have a "bag lady" that's really cute and you stuff her full of bags (I'm sorry that sounds rude!) ... but then I have 2 more sacks full of other sacks. Those extra ones are the ones to be disposed/recycled

I don't know when he'll move in, most likely June, so there's some time :)

I put one plastic bag on the doorknob of the kitchen door. I fill that one with the next plastic bags as they accumulate (I think late at night they call their friends to come over). When it is full, I put it in my car and next time I am driving by the local Salvation Army - which is often - I drop it off. They use them in their store.

I really wish I could get stuck into your house to help. ;)

I am so good at find homes for things, re-homing, re-zoning, de-cloning, throwing, chucking, archiving, tipping and finding space.

I am a tidying MONSTER too. ;)
