Tonight's film: Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. A beautiful Czech film from 1970, crowded with pagan and Catholic imagery, vampires and magic. Nothing makes logical sense; the symbolism is sometimes anvilicious and sometimes deeply obscure, and nothing is really resolved. But it's all very lovely. It would make a good double feature along with the
