It was enough for him to always be observing, to never be the one in love, because to be in love, well, that required a wealth of emotion that Kim Heechul wasn't sure he possessed.

To be in love meant having great surges of emotion for said loved one, feeling tremendous amounts of joy and feeling unfathomable amounts of despair. Honestly, Heechul just didn't have the energy (nor time or actual botheredness) to feel all that. He was content on the sidelines.

But he had to draw the line somewhere. Even if he wasn't in love, technically, he still loved, or held great amounts of affection for someone.

He walked the grey between of best friend and something more, the line so thin that it was hard to keep balanced. Sometimes he'd tip, send a message he meant with all his heart but didn't want known (If anyone hurts you, I will make sure they live their life with ten times the pain you felt). Other times, his paranoia made it so that he was an enemy, that hate consumed him.

All the time, he wished that the emotion love never existed.
