A Short List of Things NOT to Do on Your Ohat Run (in no particular order)

"Could we get by with a RDM main healing...?" If you want the RDM to hate you for the rest of your life, sure! Also if you are interested in eating floor during the fight and likely losing your eye cluster, then this is the way to go.

Come to the fight as NIN/THF. If you can think of an explanation, please: Feel free to share.

He had Hakutaku confused with Charybdis? Wait, no. That's a 100% drop rate too. He had Hakutaku confused with the weapons resist zone in Apollyon?

NIN/THF is for fights where high evasion would help since THF gets an Evasion Bonus trait. Of course, so does DNC. And while I've heard of NINs tanking Haku, his swings aren't the main issue. They aren't pretty, of course, but on they're low on the list compared to Firaga 3, Death Ray and Hex Eye.

Yeah... I started trying to think of a viable reason for it when I found out the guy was there as NIN/THF, and the Evasion thing was the only even half-reasonable idea I came up with.

THF was the only vaguely appropriate subjob he had leveled perhaps?

Possibly. But I'd have even preferred a somewhat underleveled WAR sub over him coming /THF, personally. At least he'd have had voke then...

I love my ohat, and I've helped on runs since I got mine, but I'm done with it now and never going on another.

"Could we get by with a RDM main healing...?"

o.O

Wiping to the Temple Guardian on your way through Temple of Uggalepih. This can be dependent on some bad luck of course. Meltdown sometimes just really hurts.

No one had stun? Weapon bash? Anything? :/ My inner DRK cries.

"[name] told me to bring my stun knife for this fight. We should save Tp for stun weaponskills, to avoid the agas..." You can't make this stuff up. I tried warning the organizer via /tell that a few -agas getting through could mean the difference between a win and a loss and the final decision to go or not was with him since it was his cluster. We commenced the first pop with a single BLM.Arg. :/ Guess that RDM healer will save the day ( ... )

Oh they did. The one who wiped to the Guardian on the way through Temple was the other PLD. So yeah: Shield Bash didn't stun, he didn't have TP or didn't react quickly enough with Flat Blade, or the mob just totally ignored it all and blew up anyhow. I'm not sure what exactly happened.

When we finally got underway, we actually had 2 RDMs and a WHM I think, so healing was somewhat-kinda covered. I don't believe either of the RDMs present were /DRK though, as I didn't see a single Stun go off the first fight.

Ugh! That's rough on the meltdown. :/

And yay, glad healing was covered enough that it worked out. Seems like outside of HNM LS circles, many many RDMs don't get their DRK sub leveled... (Or maybe yours came as some other sub for a reason.)

Well, I didn't state specifically in the main post: I was along on these runs as a Helper, not as The Organizer. I was attempting to encourage a newer shell-mate to take responsibility for setting up & running an event for something they wanted rather than simply coming to an officer and saying "Hey, can we set up an Ohat run?" and then leaving everything organizational up to said officer.

It turned out to be mostly a practice in futility. :(
