Wow. Really, really lovely. Lizzie's adorable - her bits of backstory are wonderful (I love, love her R&J essay - while I'm a) not a feminist literary critic; and b) not a fan of R&J, I do appreciate a student who speaks their mind, and have done so myself, so I sympathize and root for things like that). Darcy, for all that we don't see him much, is a great presence, and Gigi is very cute.
But I'd like to say that as a huge Jane fan, I really, really love your writing of Jane. Her absolute love of Lizzie, the not letting go of Lizzie's hand, the "mad in a Jane way," the scooting closer to Lizzie at night, the pigtails, the memories of Jane as big sister - all of them are perfect details.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you liked the Jane bits--they were some of my favorite bits to write and something that I deliberately wanted to include, because I think Lizzie's relationship with Jane informs so much of how she relates to (and dislikes) Darcy. And I wanted the fic to be more about Lizzie as a person than specifically about her and Darcy (though the Lizzie/Darcy of it all is very easy to get caught up in, obvs). Anyway, thank you so much for reading and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated!
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww. Here is the thing about your writing, generally: it makes me so jealous I could scream and so absolutely in love I could marry you on the spot. Here's the thing about this fic specifically: your characterizations are so beyond perfect and your hand gestures and the way they look at things (and don't look at things) are just so gorgeous that I am actually incapable of explaining how much I love them, but I do do do so very much.
This, right here:
Lizzie had listened to the city, to the sounds that were so different than the ones they’d left at home. She’d wanted to ask about Bing, about how big the other side of Jane’s bed feels when Lizzie isn’t there to fill it. Every day, Lizzie goes into Pemberley and sees happy people at a well run company, the tasteful art in the hallways and Mrs. Reynolds holding the elevator door for her. Lizzie stands at the coffee machine and sees a whole room laughing at something Darcy’s just said. And then she comes home to Jane’s half-filled, still-waiting apartment and Jane’s

At this point I don't even know what to do to you when you go on like this, except duct tape your mouth shut and rub my face on your face. CAN I GIVE YOU COOKIES? CAN I GIVE YOU HUGS? CAN I LOVE YOU FOREVER? Too late, that last one's already happening. You make me happy that I write and make the deepest, darkest days of writer's block feel a little less dire. I love you so heartily, and admire you so much as a writer and a person and a friend. <3<3<3
Geez, save some talent for the rest of us would you?
SO GOOD.
I'm so nitpicky with LBD fic, and it's hard to be nitpicky considering there's hardly any fic as is, but either their Lizzie voice is off or the tension gets smoothed over too quickly or she's up and calling him Will right off the bat, which, no, but this was parfait my friend and you should be super proud of yourself. I'm forever in love with your way with words -- I never know how to explain that but you've got something that makes me want to go back and reread whole sentences and paragraphs just because of the lyrical quality to them. I love the actual content too though. I like how you write Lizzie and Jane's relationship and the dynamic between Lizzie and Gigi, especially this line because, wow, kill me now:
Lizzie can’t help but see Darcy in the times when Gigi is silent. Though she won’t say it’s on purpose, Lizzie fills their afternoons with noise.I also really liked the whole section about Lizzie's complicated relationship with the internet and how conscious

I already said a lot of things to you about this last night, but I love and adore you and your everything! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and write and encourage and handhold! Thanks for picking up on the bits I was trying to emphasize (Lizzie/Internet is SO IMPORTANT) and. Yeah. Thanks so much, dear. <3<3<3
Haha, I'm so glad that that exchange worked for you because it was just a little differently styled than the rest of the fic, but it felt like such a Lizzie thing to say? Writing a handful of scenes that are all basically THIS IS SO AWKWARDSAUCE was frightening because I didn't want it to get too repetitious, so. I'm glad that you liked it. Anyway. Thank you so much for all the RIDICULOUSLY NICE THINGS that you said, and I can't express myself without a gif anymore either, so. <3<3<3 You da best.
