Geez, save some talent for the rest of us would you?
SO GOOD.
I'm so nitpicky with LBD fic, and it's hard to be nitpicky considering there's hardly any fic as is, but either their Lizzie voice is off or the tension gets smoothed over too quickly or she's up and calling him Will right off the bat, which, no, but this was parfait my friend and you should be super proud of yourself. I'm forever in love with your way with words -- I never know how to explain that but you've got something that makes me want to go back and reread whole sentences and paragraphs just because of the lyrical quality to them. I love the actual content too though. I like how you write Lizzie and Jane's relationship and the dynamic between Lizzie and Gigi, especially this line because, wow, kill me now:
Lizzie can’t help but see Darcy in the times when Gigi is silent. Though she won’t say it’s on purpose, Lizzie fills their afternoons with noise.
I also really liked the whole section about Lizzie's complicated relationship with the internet and how conscious she is of what she says in her videos now, as opposed to the somewhat careless way she used to be about them. I feel like that's very true in canon because right after the Darcy episodes people got frustrated with her lack of elaboration on the letter, when up until that point she hadn't been very close-mouthed about, well, anything. There was a definite change and I like how you've...idk, worked with that.
Lizzie’s pretty sure there isn’t a standard way to begin a conversation where one party committed online libel and the other made a horrifying declaration of feelings, so she chews her lip a minute and then says, “Umm, so.” It’s a great opening.
Darcy taps his knuckles on his desk and clears his throat. Twice. Stellar rebuttal.
There were tons of times where I thought, hey, this is pretty great Lizzie voice, but it really stood out here. This entire scene was brilliant and I loved the little olive branch at the end with the tennis tip.
This is great, dude, and I am excited at the prospect of more somewhere down the line!
I already said a lot of things to you about this last night, but I love and adore you and your everything! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and write and encourage and handhold! Thanks for picking up on the bits I was trying to emphasize (Lizzie/Internet is SO IMPORTANT) and. Yeah. Thanks so much, dear. <3<3<3
