Two Heads

So this is actually two ideas of mine merged into one: Cuddy and House in couples therapy (!) and yet another take on Moving On.

Here's the premise: What if Moving On was exactly the same, except for three things:
a. Cuddy didn't go out with that dweeb. (Because. . .really Cuddy?)
b. House brought the brush over by himself. (No Wilson waiting in the ( Read more... )

It doesn't suck. You must have done something right, because I feel sad all over again. (This, and Hugh Laurie pics, back in LA today, making the 8th season of House become real. God, was he hot - and where is House heading to? :(). I actually have more problems with Cuddy going to therapy. She always seemed to me like someone who would never give anything away. She is as closed as House is. House in couple therapy? I think he could, pretending to turn it as a joke, and hoping for something good to come from it - just like you painted him. And you get his attempts at lame humor in those cases well, too. Your story has a good flow. Don't doubt yourself. I'd gladly beta for you, if I was a native speaker. But I'm afraid I'd miss nuances.

Whew! Glad it doesn't suck.
And hooray for today's Hugh hotness. The powers that be must've made him grow his hair because he's . . . on the run? In a coma? Just living the carefree island life? The mind reels.

Your English is amazing by the way. I marvel at it.

As for Cuddy in therapy: I agree under normal circumstances she wouldn't go. But the near death experience plus dealing with House, well . . .no one is THAT emotionally together. ;)

Thanks for reading and commenting, as always!

Reading your fic, I thought Cuddy was a long-term patient of the therapist, and I was dubious. Of course with recent traumas, she would agree to therapy :)
As for Hugh, his hotness today has cheered up my whole timeline - a Christmas morning. I'm afraid though the long hair doesn't bode well for House - I vote coma, because I can't stomach on the run- would mean the beach scene is real? Bleh! But seeing him again...I'd miss the show, seriously. I hope the long hair is a remaining of Mr Pip.
Thanks for your nice comments.

Definitely in the DOES NOT SUCK column! First, I want to thank you for creating a premise which completely re-imagines the return of Cuddy's hairbrush :-D

I find it totally believable that Cuddy would visit a therapist, and I'll even buy that House, nursing even a flicker of a secret hope that he and Cuddy might have a future if he went to couples counseling, would too. And his behavior in your scenario is right in character - both he and Cuddy are, actually.

I like the bit where Ivy asks Lisa why she scolds him; it's a nice observation. Later on, I would have liked to see Ivy challenge Lisa on why she thinks House shouldn't have tried put space between them after the break-up. It seems like a totally rational reaction to me, and delving a little more into the fact that it apparently bothers Lisa so much could be an interesting idea to explore ( ... )

You are AWESOME! Thank you so much for that...will definitely change the boneheaded frisson/fissure mistake and will try to figure out a way to make Ivy a little more professional in her exchange with Cuddy. (I think I wanted Ivy to be relatable, since she is our narrator thru this piece, but I don't want her to seem like a flake.)
Regardless, you're in trouble now, girl, because you rock and I'm totally going to ask you to do this again!! xoxo

Edited to add: I also had Cuddy address how she would've LIKED House to act after the breakup. Just a small exchange, but it helps.

You're welcome - my pleasure to help out!

you're in trouble now, girl

I eat trouble for breakfast. Usually mixed in with my yogurt and granola.

That addition works really well in fleshing out the issue, and it makes for a good transition into House's take on things, too. Nice job!

I really liked it. Seems in character, and a good way to work with what happened up until the ridiculous of the last few moments of the finale and send it in a far better direction. I like how they're really quite aware of how the other one feels, because I think they actually are, and the things they got wrong about how the other was feeling seemed right too. I would like reading more chapters of this.

This one was so different but I still LOVED it! Such great writing- and very in character. I really liked you're Lisa and therapist too!
I've been so busy working this week that I couldn't respond to "Running" sooner. I think you asked for more story ideas?
I don't have any time in my schedule to write right now, but if I could I think I'd explore past episodes in seasons 3-5 (they're my favorite) of opportunities missed. Maybe you're worried people wouldn't like those as much- because they're not up-to-date with the current work (season 7) but the end of this season sucked so...yeah we all don't care we just love reading!
I do think exploring season 7 (earlyish) could've been cool too. Not that I didn't enjoy season 7 (the first 2/3 of it) but they went in a unique direction when so many other routes could've been taken.
I had more ideas for you but I can't remember them! I'll post back if I do remember! Have a nice weekend. Post another story soon when you get a chance please!
Mads

Thanks, Mads! Yeah, this one was different. . .almost more like a play than a story. I don't think it totally works, but some parts are good. ;)
Anyway, lay some prompts on me, if you've got them. I'm personally obsessed with fixing Season 7 ("unique direction" is an excellent euphemism), but this has been my summer to explore past seasons so I'll take anything you've got. xo

House and Cuddy, acting like adults (well, as much as they can) and talking about their issues - how novel! :) I've always said that they both could benefit from couples therapy, because each comes with such bucket loads of issues, and then you throw their joint issues on top, it's just a mess of baggage to deal with... Of course, the therapist would have to be someone who could keep up with them both, and not follow through on the feelings of wanting to strangle them that surely would arise ( ... )

Literal and figurative car crash of Season 7. Well put.
Meanwhile, I am working on a post-Who's Your Daddy fic (it was Season 3, BTW) AS WE SPEAK! Should be posting later today or tomorrow. :D

House & Cuddy acting/talking like adults. That was all that I wanted after the break up! DS & company, you should take the example of this amazing writer ¬¬

...

“I miss everything about her,” he said honestly.

I cried! That was the phrase that made me shed a few tears u.u
I totally loved this one. Although is something completly different, the way you carry the story and the characters attitude makes it a magical fic <3
