Role Reversal

Note from your author (ha! sounds fancy): This is the third and final chapter to my Hurricane House fiction. Here is part one. Here is part two.
A few things: This story is a giant angst sandwich, but bear with it, I promise your patience will be rewarded. Also, regarding the scene in the boardroom, any resemblance to Lisa Edelstein's contract ( Read more... )

Wow wow wow! I didn't think you'd ever 'go there'. ;-)

Again the dialogue was pitch perfect (I can just picture Wilson with furrowed eyebrow and apprehension on his face as he utter 'Nice...is nice, right?')

It was worth the angst! :)

I almost didn't go there! But it seemed kind of fitting, since Chapter 1 started with House skipping out on his bogus wedding. Also, I'm completely in love with the idea of House and Cuddy accepting that they are both a) massively screwed up and b) destined to always be together.

Good on you! You know I never bought this idea that after waiting 20 years to get together with House, Cuddy would seemingly give up so easily, or at least without trying to talk it through or air her concerns. But no, TPTB made her do that as she dumped him. No wonder people were angry with her (not just Wilson).

Can't wait for new adventures (or misadventures) of this newly engaged (and engaging) couple!

Always satisfying to read your fics! :)

Have you got a spare room? Cause I refuse to leave. I'm staying there sitting in front of you, while you tell me about their life together. including when they are old. Together. I even forgive you for the shore ;)
You conveyed just the right amount of angst and funny. House and Cuddy are perfect, but your Wilson is even more perfect. Vintage Wilson, caring and worrying. Thanks again.

I think we all want a Wilson in our lives. And I'll set up the spare bedroom. ♥

Oh and I almost forgot to thank you for the 'role reversal' of the title. Nice to see Cuddy as the needy, out of control one for once, and House as her 'savior'. Nice one!

Thanks! I like the idea of vulnerable!Cuddy every once in a while. Lord knows, the show almost never went there.

I think you might have hit on something here.

Maybe if House had seen Cuddy vulnerable more often on the show, he might have found his 'caring' side a little more easily.

*hint, hint* for future fics... ;-)

I've done a bit of that before, in the fics Hope and Bar Codes. But yeah, I will definitely explore more vulnerable!Cuddy in the future. Plot suggestions, as always, encouraged. ;D

Thanks! I think this is Wilson's biggest "starring role" in one of my fics.

Lovely - I was holding my breath and stomping my feet until you fixed them. :) As others have noted, it's nice (and realistic) to see Cuddy as the screwed-up one. That's what it appears TPTB forgot - Huddy worked because (well, aside from the smoking hotness) it was 2 totally messed up people who just wouldn't be fit for anyone else but each other. I almost wish House had let her dangle more.
Thanks for writing, as always! :)

Thanks! Yeah, I was going to have Cuddy go even further off the deep end and have House be even more of a dick to her (BTW, would House even say "dick"? I struggled with several different epithets for that sentence. . .) But at some point, you don't want to lose the essence of the characters or make them irredeemable (*cough* David Shore).

Also, God I just loved the idea of House (as a stand in for HL) swooping in to save the contract negotiation of Cuddy (as a stand in for LE). I guess that's as close to Huli fic as I will ever come!! ;D

If only that had happened, I'm sure the networks would have reconsidered...you know, HL says 'If she goes, I go too' and break his contract. In reality, he was miles away in Europe doing his music thing oblivious to the storm that was brewing in the States... :(
