When the tournament is announced and the headmaster says people from the other schools are going to stay at Hogwarts, the whole school erupts into excited gossip. Headmaster Sarutobi tries to make them stay quiet for a moment before he simply gives up, laughing, and sits down with the rest of the staff

His grandfather tells him that they're not going to be at England for long, that, at most, it'll be for the year until he finishes the research the Ministry asked him for, his silent 'don't get too attached' there in his serious face, which really, Lavi knows that already.

Still, a year is pretty much the longest Lavi has been in a long time. The idea of being a whole year at only one place is mind blowing: in the two years since he got his wand (because he's been learning about magic since he learned to read) he's been at Salem and Beauxbatons and Durmstrang and at THREE other schools when they were traveling through Asia. Out of his thirteen years, they've been traveling, easily, nine of them.

So he gets sorted in private, hours before the rest of the students arrive, the young principal being way too smiley at him, as if that could hide the intelligence behind his glasses as he puts on the hat.

'You are very interesting, aren't you?' the hat says. Lavi sort of wishes it didn't sound like a hot woman, because that makes him

Oh, very nice! Good characterisation - especially the 'because people act weird if you don't smile, even if there's nothing to smile about' bit, and Lavi really would suit that setting, I think. I liked the focus on the sorting hat.

Now I sort of want to read an entire D.Gray-man characters at Hogwarts AU. (I'm sure they must exist; I'm just sure that 99.9% of them aren't worth reading.) I wonder which houses the other characters would be sorted into.

Allen: the most Gryffindor but sorted in Slytherin student you'll ever see. He spends his whole life blaming Cross for that.

Duck hadn't meant to get lost, but the stairs kept changing and really, how was she supposed to learn her way to her classrooms if the stairs were never the same way?

So that's how she ends up lost during her second day during the afternoon, trying to find anything that looks familiar so she can go back to the Hufflepuff tower and then start the whole trip again. Her transfiguration teacher was going to say he would marry her again, she thought despairingly

His father had wanted him to go to Durmstrang, a much closer school to their lands. But Fritz had been charmed by the idea of a school where even Muggle Borns could go, a school that promised that every person with magic would be equal to each other, not worse and not best just from their blood, so he had writ to the four headmasters of the school, making his plight. Headmaster Gryffindor said that he'd be welcome at Hogwarts, of course, so even with his father's disapproval, Fritz decided he'd go to Britannia

Shinou ends up in Gryffindor with Lawrence, of course, Daikenja over Slytherin with Earnhart. Ruffas and Christell end up in Hufflepuff, and Siegbert's the lone Ravenclaw.

Yuuri doesn't know how they welcome firsties in the other houses, but in Hufflepuff it's pretty much a party. There's balloons and streamers and even more food and candies and it's all worthy to see the way the firsties' eyes go wide at the whole place. He remembers his first year, how sad he had been when the hat didn't put him in Ravenclaw with Shuri, but now he really can't be upset about that because he fits into Hufflepuff to the letter

Sorry to cut in, but I need to say that this is probably the cutest drabble ever and that of course Yuuri should offer to be the dad of every little child that fells lonely. >___<
Yuuri and Wolfram should get a hundred child, he is just that awesome of a dad. :DD

also, I am crazy for thinking that the hat would sort Wolf in Slytherin but he will be all like OMG I need to stay with Yuuri or he would cheat on my, put me with him stupid piece of leather. >E

Wolfram ends up in Gryffindor, actually! He wanted to be in Slytherin because it's the Pureblood house - this is when he was still a brat, after all - and he is Very Upset to be in Gryffindor, especially because Stupid Conrad with his halfbloodness managed to get into Slytherin, hmph.
